This story may contain something that someone, somewhere, somehow might find offensive. If you are one of those sensitive souls, please do NOT read this and THEN claim I shouldn't have written it.

The only recourse for avoiding such offensive material is for YOU to avoid reading a single word.

In general, my stories are intended for mature/adult individuals, but they may also be appreciated by young adults as well.

    Skylands

Skates Chambold is one of a number of technicians on Banhba, the Skyland named after the celtic goddess, and though busy, life in general seems pretty good.

But the failing of the systems, both governmental and technical, become too obvious to be ignored when a colleague is killed in an ‘accident’ inside one of the huge turbines that keep the Skyland floating above the clouds it creates.

Then, when it appears that Skates is to be blamed for the colleague’s death, there is no other choice but to descend to the ‘underworld’, the lower decks of the floating city where society’s rejects are banished.

The Skyland is in danger of falling from the skies as much-needed spare parts are no longer being produced.

An unexpected ally provides the means to descend below the clouds where it may be possible to find someone to produce the much needed replacements.

Departure and descent are rushed, and made more dangerous by the lack of practice in using the Skyland’s shuttles.

    Then, the adventure truly begins...

    Owen G. Richards : Skylands

A little bit of an adventure for me as I venture towards, if not into, the SteamPunk genre.

Skates Chambold is a maintenance technician on the Skyland (Sky Island) 'Banhba', and things are breaking down with greater frequency. That's not the worst part. The worst part is that the technicians who maintain the immense turbines are disappearing, or dying in inexplicable accidents!

    Hunter

When a mercenary retires, he discovers that retirement is unsatisfactory as it leaves him bored, restless and in desperate need of an adrenaline rush.

With price of little concern, the mercenary searches for an activity, any activity, that will provide him with the adrenaline rush he so desperately needs.

He receives information, untraceable of course, that provides him with a course of action that leads him to participate in a big game hunt.

An illegal hunt with sentient and quite belligerent prey.

Unable to resist the temptation he is drawn to select four species.

With prices agreed and paid, he is taken to begin the hunt... only to discover all is not what it was made out to be.

Cheated, imprisoned and impoverished the only recourse open to him is to escape and become a true hunter, with his only prey being the one who had set him up.

    Owen G. Richards : Hunter

A retired mercenary finds it hard to settle into the 'quiet' life. So much so that he goes in search of a much-needed adrenaline rush.

He gets involved in an illegal hunt, is betrayed and is held captive by a heartless bitch who demands he use his killing skills to her advantage.

For him that is a means to an end that will enable him to pursue his betrayer in a hunt that leads him across the galaxy (Short story original - 'The Hunt' is on the short stories bookshelf in the Library).

    Blue Moon

A blue moon shines the night Tembrul and his siblings are whelped.

It is both a portent of doom, and the foretelling of the one who will save the wolves from their end.

But the wolves are hungry, and finding prey is getting harder and harder. Their natural prey are diminishing, their land being taken by man and those creatures he favours. It is not long before there is a need to take prey from amongst man’s creatures.

The pack must survive, but how could this be possible when man has such a thing as the death sound?

If you hear it, you still live. If not, it’s too late.

Those problems faced by the pack are not just caused by man. A new pack leader rises to dominance and it is this leader who is determined to unify the packs to confront man in a war for prey and territory, regardless of their losses.

How can any wolf survive against such circumstances as those?

How then can a pack hope to survive?

Follow Tembrul on the journey of his life through the crises that take him from a new-born cub to pack leader.

Owen G. Richards : Blue Moon

On the night of Tembrul's birth a blue moon heralds the coming of doom. Man and his cronies, dogs and horses, are stealing all the land, and killing all the prey.

Of the pups born that night, Tembrul is the one who came into this world when the moon shone through the clouds.

Times were hard enough without the rise of a pack leader with ambitions of a war against man and his death sound.
